Ms. Maryam Bashir is an accomplished financial services professional with over 30 years of experience in banking, investment, and corporate governance. She previously served as an Independent Non-Executive Director at Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc from 2014 to 2025, prior to her appointment to the Board of Dangote Fertiliser Limited.

Ms. Bashir spent a significant part of her early career at United Bank for Africa (UBA), where she served for ten years until 2004, rising to the position of Executive Director. In 2004, she founded CreditCorp Limited, an independent financial advisory and consulting firm, where she currently serves as Chief Executive Officer.

She holds several board and governance roles across key sectors, including as Chair of the Board of the Asset Management subsidiary of CardinalStone Partners Limited. She also serves on the boards of Midwestern Oil & Gas Company Limited and Umugini Pipeline Infrastructure Limited.

Ms. Bashir previously served as Chairperson of First Aluminum Nigeria Plc from 2015 to 2019. She has also contributed to public sector governance through her membership of national committees, including the Special Taskforce on Corporate Governance and Controls at NNPC and the Federal Government Steering Committee on Solid Minerals. She is a founding member of Women in Management, Business and Public Service (WIMBIZ), a non-profit organisation focused on promoting women in leadership.
