Mr. Ralph Mupita is the Group President and Chief Executive Officer of MTN Group, a leading digital operator with operations across multiple markets in Africa. He was appointed to this role in September 2020, having previously served as Group Chief Financial Officer from 2017.

During his tenure as CFO, he strengthened the Group’s capital position and led key strategic initiatives, including portfolio optimisation and public listings in several markets. He currently serves on the boards of MTN Group and its key subsidiaries, including MTN South Africa, MTN Nigeria, and MTN Group Fintech.

Prior to joining MTN, Mr. Mupita was Chief Executive Officer of Old Mutual Emerging Markets, where he oversaw operations across Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Mr. Mupita also holds international governance roles, including serving as Deputy Chair of the GSMA and as a Commissioner on the Broadband Commission for Sustainable Development. 

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Honours) and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Cape Town and has completed the General Management Programme at the Harvard Business School.
